Transcendentalist Essay

Agope is a Transcendentalist Island and no one will judge or feel different in a bad way.  There are some reasons why people don’t think that this society is possible.  Others think that it is possible because people like not being judged.  Another reason would be because people enjoy being who they truly are.  One last reason would be because people will be living without regrets.  Some people believe that the society Agope would be possible to make and others think that it's not. 

Some think that the society Agope would not survive in today's world.  Some of the reasons may be because so many people automatically judge others with out realizing it.  It may be hard for others to adjust to the acceptance of everyone.  Another reason people may think that this society wouldn't work would be because they may be afraid to be themselves.  People are constantly being judge and if people are afraid to be themselves in fear of what other people think, they may not want to change.  Fear would play a big role in this society because these people would have to be willing to be themselves.  Being who they truly are and not caring what other people think. 

One reason why this society could work in today's world is because people who aren’t afraid to be themselves are enjoying life.  They like waking up and not pretending to be somebody they aren't.  Transcendentalist people don't care what other people think about them.  This makes them happy because they don't I have to impress others or care about being accepted by people.  They are who they are and as long as they are happy that is all that matters to them.  If they are enjoying being themselves because that is what comes easiest to them why should anyone else care.  At least they have the courage to do what they want and not let somebody else influence the way they act.  They learn to be their own inspiration. 

People don't like to be judged for being who they are.  Why should somebody give another person a hard time for them being brave and doing something that other people aren't, which is being themselves.  People should think that its important to not judge.  A person should not be judged for doing something brave.  Everyone is so hateful in today's world, which makes other people afraid to be who they truly are.  This society could be possible because the people who like to be themselves care to not be judged and live around people that believe the same.  They want to be surrounded by people who aren't afraid to be themselves around others.  If they keep living their life they way others want them to, they are going to regret a lot in life.

People who live in this society won't have to live with any regret or worry about how they spent their life.  Why should someone have to act a certain way and go along with whatever someone else is doing if it's not what they believe is right.  This society would work because people won’t have to worry about regrets.  People will regret not doing a lot of things because they were afraid that they were going to be judged.  Living with regrets is one thing someone should never do.  It’s sad that people are spending their entire life worrying about what other people think of them or are judging them by.  In Agope people don’t have to worry or live with these regrets.

Some people think that its not possible for this transcendentalist society to survive.  Some people think that Agope will survive because the way people don’t want to be judged, enjoy being themselves, and not living with regrets.  Agope has many reasons why it could and could not survive.  

Non-Conformity

People who are non-comformists are people that will do what they want, despite what other people say or think about them.  Being a non-comformist means that you have to be yourself and not what people expect you to be.  In the movie "Dead Poets Society" some of the boys show how they are non-conformists.  They do what they want until their parents get involved. These boys have so much pressure to do well in school and live up to the expectations of theirs parents.  Some of the boys feel to pressured and give up.  Others will show what they are made of and give everything they have.  These boys are brave and go against what other people think about them.

In "Dead Poets Society" Knox falls in love with this beautiful girl named Chris and wants to be with her.  He went to her party and kissed her, he knew the consequences of this but didn't care because he thought he loved this girl.  He got beat up for kissing Chris, but it was worth it.  Another boy, Neil, wanted to join a play.  His father didn't allow this but he still went against him.  He received the lead role in this play.  His father was so upset that he said he was going to pull him out of school, send him away, and make him become a doctor.  Neil didn't know what to do, he was so overwhelmed with everything going on.  He felt that his father would never accept him for who he was.  Neil gave up and committed suicide.  Another boy who showed that he was a non-conformist was Todd Anderson.  At first he was shy and nervous to be going to a new school.  Todd has always been shy and hated being in front of large groups of people.  Mr. Keating was told to collect his things from his room while Mr. Nolan was teaching his class.  Todd felt so guilty and yells out that they made everybody sign.  Mr. Nolan told the class that if their was one more outburst they would be removed from Welton Academy.  Todd stood on his desk faced Mr. Keating, and said "O Captain! My Captain!" By doing this Todd was showing a lot of respect for Mr. Keating. Todd didn't care if he was in front of a large group of people or if he was going to get in trouble for another outburst. He cared about his teacher and it meant a lot to Mr. Keating when Todd did this. Being a non- conformist is great because you get to be who you want and not care about what other people think. When Neil committed suicide because of what his dad was making him do is not being a transcendentalist. But when Neil joined the play and didn't care what other people had to say about him, that was being a transcendentalist.

These are ll the boys who believed in Mr. Keating and showed him their respect.

Transcendentalist

Even as she was growing up she never stopped believing!

She doesn't care what other people think about her.  She just shares her experiences and wants to inform everyone that they aren't alone.

Taylor Swift isn't afraid to be different.  As a child growing up, people told her she would never make it and she was constantly made fun of.

I believe that Taylor Swift is a transcendentalist.  She chooses to be different because she doesn’t want to be the same as anybody else.  She once said, “If you´re lucky enough to be different from everyone else, don't change” (Swift).  She is happy with who she is and doesn’t let anybody stop her from believing in what she wants.  Many people in her journey have told her that she wasn’t good enough, but that wouldn’t stop her.  She is proud of who she is and she won’t let anybody bring her down.  Taylor will be honest with others and most importantly, herself.  If Taylor Swift cared about what other people thought of her, she wouldn’t be where she is now.  She will write songs about the way she feels about anything.  If someone turns around and stabs her in the back, she isn’t afraid to tell the whole world about.  She has many stories about her family, her dreams, and the boys.  If that boy breaks her heart, that’s not the last time they will be hearing from her.  She shares her experiences with the world and she is not ashamed of it.  This doesn’t mean Taylor Swift is completely fearful she just doesn’t care what people think.  “Being FEARLESS isn't being 100% Not FEARFUL, it's being terrified but you jump anyway...” (Swift).  Taylor isn’t afraid to be herself around people.  She just wants to be herself.  She believes that everyone is an individual and should show it.  She doesn’t care if you get embarrassed on the way.  Learn to overcome your fears and move on.  She should inspire us to be who we truly are and not care how other people may judge us.  They are the ones who are missing out because thy never got to experience all of the exciting and wild things they could have.  Life is a journey and we should all enjoy it.  “Just be yourself, there is no one better” (Swift).  She believes that there is only one of you.  You can never be replaced so don’t give up on yourself just because someone doesn’t like the way you are!  Taylor Swift isn’t afraid to be who she is.  I don’t see why anyone should be.

Henry David Thoreau

Henry David Thoreau was a great man.  Henry went all the way into the woods, built a log cabin big enough for one.  He stayed here for two years, two months, and two days.  Every day he woke up and enjoyed the beautiful sight.  He wrote in his journals and played his flute.  Henry was an extremely talented man.  People need to sit down and take in everything.  Notice the details, listen to the sounds, and relax.  Henry spent all of his time at a very peaceful place for a reason.  He took the time to acknowledge all the beauty.  There are many thing things in life, but we need to pay attention to nature’s beauty.

Henry did not waste those two years at Walden Pond.  He was trying to teach himself and others a lesson.  Many people take what they have for granted.  They don’t realize what life is really worth.  “Let us spend one day as deliberate as Nature, and not be thrown off the track by every nutshell and mosquito’s wings that falls on the trails” (385).  People don’t understand the true beauty of nature.  It is true that many people don’t know who they really are because they’re too worried about what other people will think about them.

Henry spent his time in the cabin very well.  His writing portrayed beauty and life.  Henry’s work should inspire many people to appreciate the small things.  Don’t take things for granted.  Henry spent many of his hours at the pond.  He had beautiful thoughts and wanted to share them with others.  They just don’t understand real beauty of nature.  Few people were interested in his book.  That shows people don’t appreciate the goodness or detail in things.

After Henry’s experience at Walden Pond, he saw how pretty nature was.  He saw wonderful creations from nature.  Henry was also a very talented man.  He could play the flute and write astonishing entries in his journals.  Many people thought he was crazy for spending all that time in a wood cabin deep in the woods.  Henry’s time in the woods was well worth it.  He experienced nature’s beauty and creations.  He enjoyed every minute he spent there.  He did not care what other people thought of him.  As long as he was happy, that’s all that mattered.  Henry’s get away helped him find out who he really was, and not what other people influenced him to be.
