Crucible Post one

     In the beginning of Act one Parris was in control.  He had the most power over everyone.  Parris was the reverend at the church.  Everyone had respect for him and they all looked up to him.  Parris is also very selfish and rude.  During the time that his daughter was dying, he didn't care.  He was more worried about losing his job then he was losing his daughter.  In the beginning of act one Parris has all the power, but towards the end it starts to change.
     After reading Act one I noticed that the people with the most power is John and Abby.  Everyone in town is afraid of them.  They will threaten anyone who turns against them.  Mary can also be viewed as intimidating.  She will be the one who decides if someone lives or dies.  Fear is their power.  It's possible for someone to listen, only because they have enough fear towards the person in demand.  At the end of act one, mostly John and Abigail have the power.

"Sinners" follow up post

People now would respond to his sermon very differently.  Back in the 1700's people were very religious.  They would probably believe everything they were told by their priest.  The New England people were terrified of God while this speech was being given.  People today would more likely think that some one is crazy.  If a priest told a family in the 21st century it probably wouldn't scare them.  People are still religious now,  but they wouldn't believe as much as they probably did back then.  Now people aren't to worried about attending church and being religious because there are so many other thing to worry about.

"Sinners in the hands of an angry God"

This video "Sinners in the hands of an angry God' is about a passionate sermon given by Jonathan Edwards.  This sermon appears in almost every Anthology in American Literature. Known as the most famous sermon ever preached in America.  Edward scares every one by the metaphors he uses about God's anger.  This is also known as the sermon that New England never forgave him for.  He made his people aware of the risks if they sinned. Edwards told everyone to avoid hell at all costs.


The people are so afraid of God because of Jonathan Edwards sermon.  He truly believed that if someone sinned, they would go to hell.  He probably described hell so vividly that every one was terrified of it.  The New England people probably thought that they would be punished for doing something wrong or even not enough good.  If someone believes in something strong enough, it's easier for them to convince people to believe also.  What probably scared people so much was all of the details he provided.  The people from New England were in shock by how he described hell.  He made them think that if they did one thing wrong, hell was in their future.  Edwards must have lectured about Gods wrath quite a bit for these people to be scared as much as they were.

Leaves are dancing in the wind, as they fall to the ground.  They have changed to the color of a ripe orange.  The morning consist of a crisp cool breeze with a light fog hanging in the air.  A black rod iron fence stretches along the dark pavement street into the distance.  The tree stands tall in the yard.  The trunk of the tree is as dark as coffee.  Houses down the street, sit alone in the cold.  The grass, damp from all the dew.  So calm and peaceful.  

Expectations

Thesis: Teachers have many expectations, but here are a few of Mr.Provenzanos.


All of the students in Mr.Provenzano's American Lit class are expected appropriate behavior.  The kids in do no have assigned seats, but are expected to sit next to good working people.  They have to take notes and listen.  Mr.Provenzano posts homework and assignments online.  They can be found on both Twitter and Blogger.  If someone misses an assignment they are able to catch up easily.  It would be hard for any of the students to fall behind on work.  Not only are the assignments easily to find, but they can be easily done.

The work for this class is fairly easy.  Usually Mr.Provenzano assigns a few pages from a text nook, a short essay, or even just writing a blog.  Every day he puts a new word on the smart board for his students.  Their responsibility is to go home and find the definition for that word.  Once the twenty-fifth word is reached there will be a test. Mr.Provenzano's homework is not hard, but it can be a challenge for some students.  If the kids are responsible and do their homework, they won't have tests. All they have to do is participate.  The home work is not too hard, but it's worth it in the long run.

During Mr.Provenzano's class students will learn how to use many different tools.  He teaches how to use blogger, skype, glogster, and diigo.  It's very useful to know how to use these tools.  In the future these tools will be used more and more.  He also teaches how to site work properly.  He does not tolerate plagiarism.  All these tools are great to know for college and most jobs.  It's great having this type of experience.  Mr.Provenvzano is a great teacher.

About Me

My name is Addisun Victory.  I attend Grosse Pointe South High School as a sophomore.  I am the middle of three children.  I have a 26 year old sister named Brittani and a 14 year old brother named Randy.  On December 29, I will be turning 16 years old. I can't wait to get my license and drive my new car.  I also have three dogs named Anya, Ceaser and Nani.  There are many things I love doing, but going out on my boat is something I really enjoy.

Summer is my favorite season. The weather is always warm, the sun is always shinning, and I get to sleep in!  During the summer I love to be out on our boats.  My family owns a 45 foot Matthews, a 17 foot Boston wailer, and a 14 foot dingy.  If its sunny outside you will find me either tubing or taking the boat out with my friends.  I love swimming in the water on a hot summer day because its so refreshing.  Summer is the most enjoyable season.  I love to go out on the boat, but my favorite thing to do is hangout with my best friend Caroline.

Caroline and I have been best friends since the first day of 4th grade.  She is a Sophomore at Grosse Pointe North High School.  We do almost everything together.  We get along great and share similar personalities.  We both are extremely sarcastic.  Caroline is like a sister to me.  I have many other friends, but  no one is as close to me as she is.  I love her!
